Pair of Studio Job Plinths From The Perished Collection

Macassar Ebony inlaid with Bird's Eye Maple

Designed by 'STUDIO JOB'

Job Smeets (b.1970 Belgium) & Nynke Tynagel (b.1977 the Netherlands)

Circa 2006

Made in the Netherlands

Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel founded Studio Job in 2000, a studio with a Renaissance spirit where traditional and modern techniques combine to produce superbly crafted small collections of wondrous objects. In the intervening 16 years they have gained a reputation as being the contemporary pioneers of personal expression and their studio employs craftspeople from over 20 guilds who work together to develop Gesamtkunstwerk, a German word which perfectly describes their synthesis of creativity embracing many art forms.

A single bench from the 'Perished' collection was included in 2009 at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in the exhibition "Telling Tales", which featured work by a generation of internationally regarded designers and explored the narrative potential of objects - connecting the past with the present. Indeed a piece from this same collection was earlier this year included in their retrospective at the Museum of Arts & Design in New York

The young couple have continued to amaze with their outstanding creative energy; a four year regeneration project in collaboration with Argentinian property developers Faena have transformed the main exhibition space in the Faina art centre into an area designed to engage the local community and they collaborated with Faena Miami, a hotel and art complex in 2017.
