This is a finely carved Buddha with a serene expression and downcast eyes under arched eyebrows. The earlobes are very long and the hair is worked in tight curls rising to the ushnisha surmounted by a lotus bud. Remains of black lacquer can be seen in the hair, around the ears, eyes and nose.
